Cloning...
"FDA Approves Cloned Animals for Store Shelves The FDA announced today that cloned animals (and offspring and milk produced by said clones) are safe to consume. The agency said that cloned cows and pigs and other farmed animals "are as safe to eat as food from conventionally bred animals." Which, as you may have read, isn't saying much. But with cloned animals costing tens of thousands of dollars each, it's unlikely they will become a staple of our diet unless the technology that produces them is radically less expensive. Their offspring, instead, may be killed to provide consistent meat and milk products. If you don't want to buy clones or cloned offspring, caveat emptor: the FDA "is not requiring labeling or any other additional measures for food from cattle, swine, and goat clones" or their offspring because the agency considers clones and non-clones identical. Food retailers and consumers, I think, will see the issue differently. I can just see the ads now: "the Carl's Jr. 100% ORIGINAL beef burger! " Just wanted to know what you think about this.... and propose a question: why would you clone an animal for the purposes of eating it? Is there something wrong with traditional animal husbandry?????

ill stick with the old fashioned way of beef. livestock farmers around us frown on cloning i as well. i dont by beef or pork at the store got a good freind that supplies me with the meat i need . when it comes down to the penny its actually cheaper .dont trust cloneing one bit. meat should hit the farm floor dirt before it goes to the lab.

I don't believe they are killing the clone. I think they are killing the clones offspring. I would think if they have a great producer then they clone it and they can have another great producer. In dog terms I think it is like have that great bitch that always throws good pups. When she gets near death you clone her and you can keep your line going and throw more good pups. Like it or not it will be a staple of the world soon.

are there so few animals as to need cloning? So what if its a good producer, genetic variation is what prevents extinctions during hard times and I don't think people need to be playing "God" that much ...did you see that program on TV where they can grow human organs?

I did see a program where they grew human ears on the back of mice. It was strage to say the least. I guess playing God is a subjective thing. Doctors play God everyday to prolong our lives. Is that really that different. Because of it we are dealing with mass overpopulation. Alot of controversial subjects are subjective. Cloning is a crazy thing. I see alot of this stuff in my line of work, but the I'm at a public institution so what is done here is not for profit. Have you see that movie that came out a few years ago with ewen Mcgregor about clones. I think it was called "The Island." Another crazy ook I read in college that was crazy like this was "A brave new world."

Chris, I thought that I was the only person in the world that saw the program about the ear, I thought that it was a rat instead of a mouse..That was a great program....Can't say that I've ever read an ook..Here is a bit of a twist on the subject...What if these people don't believe in God...than who are they playing...We often fear what we don't understand!!!

Darn Chris I thought that an ook would have been a new experience!!!,What moon? NO, I do live in everybody elses world and if you think about it hard it might explain why I am who I am...As far as misinterpitation..Yes and no....Religion I do not discuss...But After what I have been thru the last several months ...I do believe most heart sergons and doctors feel that they are GOD!!!!
