What about if someone who had the experience would do a "How to" type video on Hunting, Trailing, feild trials etc... I know the outdoor channel is always promoting bird dogs etc.... maybe they would be interested in the Basset Hound trials...????
Good idea, definately a bigger scope that we we talking before. It is my understanding that you have to produce the video and then sell it to the outdoor channel. I don't think they come and tape it. Anybody know anything about this?
Video etc...
maybe a good trial or two might get the breed more notariety....
I know that Cabelas and othder sporting goods stores, Polarias etc... paid to sponsor the hunting event I saw on the Outdoor Channel. They placed Ads on Banners at the starting gate for a bird dog challenge....
Creative Ideas will allow the event to pay for it's self... and also bring in more entries etc... if there was some plublicity about it.... maybe sponsors could put up a prize money for 1-3rd and other merche ndise etc....
Think about it.. :?:
Big eagle...Great Ideas!!!! Only one thing to keep in mind...We can't have cash for awards at AHBA trials....Great concept...Hope someone may research it!!!
AWARDS
Are prize awards allowed? Like: Dogbox, rifle, shotgun etc.....
?????? As long as it is not cash right?
I'm Not sure about firearms either! Prizes are fine ! But still all of this is a great Idea!!!!
Here is a new idea for you to try. It's getting some interest in Missouri.
Missouri Conservation is BIG on hunter education. Maybe your state is the same. They hold several classes a month aimed at getting new hunters in the sport or active hunters to try a new hunting experience.
I have contacted the people responsible for setting up these classes and volunteered my time and dogs to put on a demonstration for these classes all over the state. I am getting a lot on interest from the regional managers. I first made contact 3 days ago and already have a demo scheduled for July, and one in the fall with out a date yet. I also have an area talking about a youth hunt.
If we grow locally we will grow Nationally, I challenge all our members, especially state reps, to do the same and I bet we will have many new members this fall.
I got the local tv outdoor program to come a hunt and then we got an entire 1/2 hour show about bassets. Really didn't get much responce.
I have had good luck with the basset chat forums (cyberhound, mainly). These people are pet owners, but some have become quite active. We need to try and get beaglers and hunters to watch the bassets run.
One beagle club near me has a rabbit hunt -- 3 man teams, any number of hounds. You pay to enter, all teams go where ever they want, and all rabbits must be weighedm before 6pm. the prize is a % of entries, each team enters their biggest 6(not sure of exzct number) rabbits, biggest single rabbit and total are winners. We need to get more basset teams. Last year we fielded 2 teams of bassets
